The 2026 Seoul Barbecue Festival brings self-grill tables, famous Seoul meat restaurants and riverside sunsets to Nanji Camping Ground on October 24–25.

The smell of charcoal will drift over the Han River later this month. The 2026 Seoul Barbecue Festival runs Saturday , October 24 and Sunday , October 25 at Nanji Camping Ground in Mapo-gu, hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Under the slogan "GRILL Y OUR SEOUL " and the tagline "Sizzle — the moment Seoul gets delicious," the two-day festival invites locals and international visitors to experience Korean barbecue the way Koreans do: grilling it yourself , sharing it at the table and eating it outdoors.

Korean barbecue has deep roots. The festival traces it back to maekjeok, a grilled meat dish from the Goguryeo kingdom, and today K-BBQ is one of Korea's best-known food cultures around the world. The festival's advice for first-timers is simple: flip the meat until it turns golden, cut it into bite-sized pieces with scissors, then wrap it in lettuce or perilla leaves with ssamjang, garlic, rice and kimchi. And bring friends — it is always better shared.

What to Do at the Festival

The festival is built around five zones spread across the riverside campground (official site).

  • BBQ Zone — The heart of the festival. Book a table at the Self-BBQ Zone and grill premium Korean pork and Hanwoo beef yourself , or head to the BBQ Village, where well-known Seoul meat restaurants serve festival-only menus from 12:00 to 19:30. In the Village you simply order at a kiosk and pick up your food, and every purchase
comes with a free drink (BBQ Zone).
  • Picnic Zone — Spread out on the grass and enjoy your food with a view of the river .
  • BBQ Stage — Live performances through the weekend. The line-up will be announced on the official site.
  • BBQ Healing Zone — A quieter space to rest between meals.
  • Seoul Kids Café — A play space for f amilies with young children.

Time your visit for the late afternoon. As the sun sets over the Han River , the campground glows orange, the grills light up and the festival is at its liveliest.
